During World War II, the British Ministry of Defence commissioned 12 Swiss watch manufacturers to produce robust, accurate, and waterproof wristwatches for their soldiers. These watches, featuring a black dial, Arabic numerals, luminous hands, and a railway track minute marker, became known collectively as the ‘Dirty Dozen’ and are highly sought after by collectors today for their historical significance and utilitarian design.
